Saint Paul's Women's Fellowship (A.A.W)
St Pauls Women’s Fellowship (A.A.W) meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the fellowship area.
We have a variety of speakers and activities during the year. All are welcome. We also support the Hutt Hospital Women Auxiliary, by donating tooth brushes, combs and tissues (paper hankies) for Emergency Packs for the Patients. If you would like to help donate some of these items they can be left at the church or contact Mary Driver (see below for details) |
AAW was formed in August 1969 after a large proportion of the Mothers Union Branches in NZ had voted to change the rule of membership which included divorced women and allowed single women to be associated members only.
With a change of name to the Association of Anglican Women, ALL Anglican women could be members. The Association of Anglican Women became an umbrella organisation including Mothers Union groups, Guilds and Fellowship Groups and Young Wives Groups. These names have evolved over the years but are still used in the Wellington Diocese. All women in the Anglican Church in NZ could be brought together to address a common purpose of being the church to women in NZ they have been able to work together for women and children both in NZ and overseas. The A.A.W has led through its leadership to the vocation of many ordained women A.A.W now has represented action on all Diocesan Synods in NZ and Polynesia. A.A.W is represented by members on N.C.W (National Concert of Women) Meetings.
The aims of the Association of Anglican Women in New Zealand are:
